KATHMANDU: A new jungle safari track leading to the core area of Chitwan National Park (CNP) is being opened in the western part of the park.
The track will cover the Sikhrauli, Sihsabar, and Lamichaur buffer zones, and includes areas of Gaindakot, Devchuli, and Kawasoti municipalities of Nawalpur district, Hari Prasad Neupane, the mayor of Devchuli Municipality, told news agency RSS.
Local stakeholders believe that the new track will boost tourism in the western part of CNP by allowing tourists to enjoy jungle safari inside the national park. So far, local tourism entrepreneurs are conducting jungle safari at the community forests adjoining the national park.
The CNP, Homestay and Hotel Association of Nawalpur, Devchuli Municipality, and Sishabar Buffer Zone Users Group are working together to open the track.
