New head coach Ross names his first squad

KATHMANDU: The new head coach of the men’s national football team, Matt Ross, has announced his first 23-member squad for the upcoming international friendly against Singapore and the AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Malaysia.

Nepal is playing an international friendly against Singapore on March 21 to prepare for its AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Malaysia on March 25.

Forward Subash Bam Thakuri, goalkeeper Anjal Shrestha and defender Suman Shrestha have earned their first call-ups to the senior national team. Subash has represented Nepal at the youth level, while Suman and Anjal play for the Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club.

Likewise, forward Rejin Subba and midfielder Kritish Ratna Chhunju have also been recalled to the national team.

Ross took over the reins of the Nepali men’s national team on March 2. He replaces Vincenzo Alberto Annesse who completed his term in May last year.

Defenders: Ananta Tamang, Bimal Pandey, Sanish Shrestha, Ranjit Dhimal, Sumit Shrestha, Abhishek Limbu, Suman Shrestha
Midfielders: Rohit Chand Thakuri, Laken Limbu, Rohan Karki, Mani Kumar Lama, Bharat Khawas, Arik Bista, Manish Dangi, Kritish Ratna Chhunju, Ayush Ghalan
Forwards: Anjan Bista, Suwas Bam Thakuri, Rejin Subba, Gillespye Jung Karki
