New govt must take decisive action against corruption: Pun Dr Mahabir Pun

KATHMANDU: Former Minister for Education, Science and Technology and newly elected member of the House of Representatives from Myagdi, Mahabir Pun, has said that the incoming government must take decisive action against corruption.

Pun, who was elected to the lower house as an independent candidate, wrote in a social media post on Tuesday that corrupt individuals should be exposed so that they do not rise to influence again. He added that if existing laws create hurdles, new rules should be introduced immediately.

“The incoming government of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) must, from its very first day, expose corrupt individuals in a way that they can never rise again,” he wrote. “If the rules stand in the way, new ones must be made immediately.”

Pun warned that failure to curb corruption would be a major betrayal of the public and could eventually lead to the decline of the RSP itself.

“People should be able to feel good governance within three months,” he said, adding that he would fully support the government in its efforts to eliminate corruption and poor governance.
