Netflix announces series on IC 814 hijacking

KATHMANDU: Netflix is producing a series on the 1999 hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight from Kathmandu.

The popular streaming service made the announcement during the “Next on Netflix” event on Thursday.

Anubhav Sinha, known for directing Mulk and Article 15, will helm the series titled ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’. The series will feature actors such as Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Tripathi, Vijay Varma, Patralekha, Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swamy, and Amrita Puri, among others.

According to Netflix, the series revolves around the December 24, 1999 hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight IC 814, which was en route from Kathmandu to New Delhi. The plane was diverted to Kandahar, and the hijack lasted for seven days.
