KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index went up by 56.10 points to close at 1,930.97 points on Tuesday.
The benchmark index has posted gains on three straight trading days.
The market opened for trading at 1874.88 points. The benchmark index traded in the green territory throughout the session to ultimately close 2.99% higher.
All the trading groups ended the day in green with ‘Others’ group posting the highest growth of 5.5%. Others and Trading groups followed suit as their sub-indices were up by 5.28% and 4.56%, respectively. Market heavyweight Banking group was also up by 2.2%.
Hydropower stocks were high in demand on the day as reflected by the rise in the share prices of hydropower companies. The top six gainers of the day were hydropower companies. NIC Asia Bank topped the listed companies in terms of turnover, while Sayapatri Hydropower Ltd (1,369) was at the top in terms of number of transactions. In terms of volume, Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Ltd led the list of listed companies with 137,208 units of shares traded.
A total of 3.97 million units of 231 scrips worth Rs 1.29 billion changed hands through 27,932 transactions. Total market capitalization reached Rs 1.15 trillion.
