Nepse up 9.93 points; turnover improves to Rs 7.12 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted modest gains on Tuesday, closing 9.93 points higher at 2,649.30.

The market opened on a positive note, with the benchmark index hitting an intraday high of 2,662.55. Although the index pared some gains as the session progressed, it ultimately closed 0.37 percent higher.

Total turnover stood at Rs 7.12 billion—the highest since November 2, when Rs 7.29 billion worth of shares were traded on the bourse. A total of 14.83 million units were traded through 88,362 transactions on Tuesday.

Market participation remained mixed, as 148 stocks advanced, while 103 declined and eight remained unchanged. In terms of turnover, SY Panel Nepal led the chart with transactions worth Rs 248.83 million. Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL) and Shivam Cements followed with turnovers of Rs 236.70 million and Rs 234.70 million, respectively.

Except for two sectors—Hotels & Tourism and Manufacturing & Processing—all trading groups ended in the green on Tuesday. The Finance sub-index logged the biggest gain of 2.87 percent, followed by the Microfinance and Development Bank sub-indices, which rose by 0.83 percent and 0.79 percent, respectively.
