
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a two-day losing run, closing 9.66 points higher at 2,676.28 points on Wednesday.
Share prices of 154 companies advanced during the session, while 90 declined and one remained unchanged. Despite the gains, total turnover fell to Rs 4.48 billion, the lowest since March 26 when it stood at Rs 4.1 billion. A total of 10.07 million units of securities were traded through 45,094 transactions on Wednesday.
Nepal Microinsurance Company Ltd led the gaining stocks as its unit price surged 9.98% to Rs 365.7. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd followed with a 7.99% rise to Rs 3,238.51, while the share price of Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Ltd climbed 5.16% to Rs 18,750. On the losing end, Sindhu Bikash Bank saw the steepest drop, falling 7.47% to Rs 1,112.10. Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha declined by 2.73% to Rs 2,840.07, while Citizens Super 30 Mutual Fund slipped 2.59% to Rs 9.02.
In terms of turnover, NRN Infrastructure and Development Ltd topped with Rs 427.56 million worth of shares traded. CEDB Holdings Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 302.23 million and Rs 274.40 million, respectively.
Sector-wise, the Trading and Banking sub-indices recorded nominal losses, while 11 trading groups ended the session in the green. The Hotels & Tourism sub-index logged the highest gain, of 2.44%, while the Investment and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices posted gains of 1.48% and 1.36%, respectively.
