KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its gaining streak into a sixth straight session on Wednesday, closing 6.53 points higher at 2,653.38 points.
Share prices of 139 companies advanced during the session, while 95 declined and eight remained unchanged. Ngadi Group Power Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session, with Rs 225.34 million worth of shares traded. Sindhu Bikas Bank and Super Madi Hydropower Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 197.71 million and Rs 180.05 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, six posted gains, while seven ended the session in red. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index, which was up by 4.7%. Development Bank and Microfinance sub-indices were next, with gains of 2.53% and 1.59%, respectively. On the other hand, the Trading sub-index logged the biggest loss of 1.56%.
Hydropower stocks continued to attract investors, as Rs 2.75 billion worth of shares of hydropower companies were traded on the bourse on Wednesday. Finance companies and Development Banks were next, with turnovers of Rs 904.94 million and Rs 695.98 million, respectively.
Daily turnover improved to Rs 6.34 billion on Wednesday, up from Rs 5.33 billion on Tuesday.
