KATHMANDU: Daily turnover on Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) climbed to a 35-month high of Rs 12.05 billion on Wednesday as the bullish trend in the country’s only bourse continues.
The Nepse index went up by 54.04 points on the day to close the penultimate trading day of the week at 2,364.63 points. The index fluctuated until 1:15 pm, but the rally thereafter meant Nepse ended the session 2.33% higher.
Share prices of 204 companies advanced on the day, while 32 declined and six remained unchanged. Singati Hydro Energy Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with shares worth Rs 235.58 million traded. Next were NRN Infrastructure & Development and Sonapur Minerals & Oil Ltd with turnovers of Rs 227.14 million and Rs 203.53 million, respectively.
All trading groups posted gains on the day. The highest gain came from the Trading sub-index, which was up by 7.3%. Hotels & Tourism and Finance were next with gains of 5.55% and 5.5%, respectively.
A total of 32.09 million units of shares were traded on the bourse through 149,681 transactions.
