KATHMANDU: The market extended its gaining streak for a third straight session as the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index went up by 43.22 points to 2,742.88 points on Wednesday.
The benchmark index had logged gains of 31.48 points on Tuesday—the first trading day after the Dashain holiday.
Unit prices of 206 scrips advanced on the day, while 35 declined, and three remained unchanged. Nepal Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with shares worth Rs 150.95 million traded. Next were Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd and NIC Asia Bank Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 150.4 million and Rs 147.5 million, respectively.
All trading groups closed higher on Wednesday. The biggest gain came from the Trading sub-index, which was up by 3.44%. Next were the Hydropower and Banking sub-indices with gains of 2.13% and 1.98%, respectively.
Securities worth Rs 5.66 billion changed hands on Wednesday through 65,845 transactions. Market capitalization reached Rs 4.36 trillion.
