Nepse up 41.43 points; turnover improves to Rs 5.22 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index continued its upward trend for a second straight session, closing trading 41.43 points higher at 26,63.3 points on Thursday.

Although the benchmark index dipped initially, it soon marched into the green territory and continued the momentum throughout the session to close the last trading day of the week 1.58% higher.

Unit prices of 227 scrips increased during the session, while 16 declined. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 511.81 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and NRN Infrastructure & Development with turnovers of Rs 270.76 million and Rs 253.36 million, respectively.

The sub-indices of all trading groups posted gains on Thursday. Trading sub-index logged the highest growth of 6.09%, followed by Microfinance and Investment sub-indices which ended the session 2.22% and 2.2% higher.

Total turnover improved to Rs 5.22 billion on Thursday with 9.77 million units of securities traded through 55,442 transactions.
