KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) closed 28.73 points higher at 2,639.37 points on Monday.
The index moved into positive territory immediately after trading resumed. It maintained the momentum throughout the session and eventually closed 1.1% higher.
Unit prices of 214 scrips advanced during the session, while 37 declined and eight remained unchanged. Such was the buying pressure on the bourse that share prices of five companies hit the positive circuit of 10%. Total turnover also climbed to Rs 6.47 billion—the highest since November 30. A total of 12.45 million units were traded on Monday through 84,990 transactions.
Shivam Cement logged the highest turnover of the session, with Rs 386.95 million worth of shares traded. Bandipur Cable Car & Tourism and SY Panel followed with turnovers of Rs 209.12 million and Rs 175.14 million, respectively.
All trading groups ended the session in the green. The biggest gain came from the Manufacturing & Processing sub-index, which was up 3.05%. The Development Bank and Hotels & Tourism sub-indices followed with gains of 2.7% and 2.53%, respectively.
