KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted gains of 13.51 points on Sunday, ending trading at 2,083.04 points on the first trading day of the week.
The benchmark index had closed trading the previous week with a loss of 23.81 points.
The market bounced back strongly after last week’s loss, reaching an intra-day high of 2,085.29 points just 15 minutes into trading. However, it fell thereafter but eventually closed the session 0.65% higher.
Share prices of 174 companies increased on the day, while 61 declined and 12 remained unchanged. Among trading groups, three sub-indices ended the session in the red, while 10 posted gains. Manufacturing & Processing went down by the highest, at 2.4%, while Trading posted the biggest gain, at 6.56%.
Nepal Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 226.41 million traded. Next were Pokhara Finance Ltd and First Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 187.02 million and Rs 140.71 million, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 4.31 billion were traded on the bourse through 65,654 transactions on Sunday.
