KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shed 57.03 points to close at 2,580.76 points on Monday.
This is the first time since July 25 that the benchmark index has closed below the 2,600-point level. Daily turnover also fell sharply to Rs 7.36 billion, compared to Rs 10.10 billion on Sunday.
Unit prices of 227 companies declined during the session, while 14 advanced, and three remained unchanged.
CEDB Hydropower Development Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 311.14 million worth of shares traded. Next were Sanima Reliance Life Insurance Ltd and Nepal Finance Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 274.28 million and Rs 209.06 million, respectively.
All trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Finance index, which was down by 5.66%. Next were the Hotels & Tourism and Trading sub-indices, which were down by 2.79% and 2.76%, respectively.
