KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a two-day winning run and posted a loss of 90.73 points, closing trading at 2,739.46 points on Wednesday.
The benchmark index started sliding right after the trading began. Although it made some recovery attempts, the index eventually ended the session 3.2% lower.
Unit prices of 213 scrips declined during the session while 31 advanced and one remained unchanged. All the trading groups ended the session in red. The biggest loss came from Finance sub-index which went down by 5.15%. Next were Hotels & Tourism and Others sub-indices which fell by 4.47% and 3.78%, respectively. The market heavyweight Banking sub-index was also down 3.17%.
Although the benchmark index registered a loss, the share prices of four companies hit the positive circuit of 10%.
Securities worth Rs 12.92 billion were traded on the bourse on Wednesday through 137,163 transactions.
