KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index tanked 21.46 points to close the first trading day of the week at 1,826.23 points on Sunday. With this, the market has extended its losing run to the fourth straight session.
The benchmark Nepse index started sliding right after trading began at 1,846.23 points. It continued the momentum throughout the session to ultimately end the day 1.16% lower. Except for the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which posted a nominal gain, all trading groups ended the day in red, with the maximum loss coming from the Trading index, which was down by 2.11%. Next on the list were the Development Bank and Banking sub-indices, which were down by 1.64% and 1.5%, respectively.
Nabil Bank Promoter Shares logged the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 46.08 million traded. Following closely were Global IME Bank Ltd and NIC Asia Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 31.78 million and Rs 30.38 million, respectively.
A total of 3.55 million units worth Rs 972.36 million were traded on the bourse through 39,322 transactions.
