Nepse surges 15.79 points; shares worth Rs 5.53 billion traded

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted gains of 15.79 points to close trading at 2,152.14 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark index had posted a five-day gaining streak before registering a nominal loss of 4.62 points on Monday.

Share prices of 168 companies advanced on the day, while 68 declined and 10 remained unchanged. NRN Infrastructure and Development logged the highest turnover of the session with shares worth Rs 197.77 million traded. Next were Nepal Finance Ltd and Janaki Finance Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 162.14 million and Rs 135.64 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, four posted losses, while eight logged gains and one remained unchanged. The biggest gain came from the Microfinance sub-index, which was up by 3.06%. Next were the Development Bank and Others sub-indices, which were up by 2.49% and 0.66%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 5.53 billion were traded on the bourse through 66,716 transactions. Total market capitalization reached Rs 3.341 trillion.
