KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) stretched its losing streak into a fourth straight session, closing 32.93 points lower at 2,595.97 points on Sunday. The benchmark index has shed 62.69 points over the past four trading sessions.
This marked the first time since March 25, when Nepse closed at 2,582.73 points, that the benchmark index fell below the psychological 2,600-point level.
Unit prices of 225 scrips went down during the session, while 23 advanced. Dordikhola Jalbidyut Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 757.39 million worth of shares traded. Next were Butwal Power Company Ltd and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 745.83 million and Rs 497.28 million, respectively.
All trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which was down by 3.13%. Hydropower (-2.78%) and Microfinance (-1.15%) were other notable losers.
Total turnover also fell to Rs 9.14 billion with 21.54 million units traded through 87,302 transactions.
