Nepse extends gains to fourth straight day

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its gain for a fourth straight session on Tuesday as the benchmark index went up by 56.94 points to close at 2,132.48 points.

The Nepse index has logged gains of 135.59 points in the past four sessions.

The market opened for trading at 2,132.61 points. Although the index stuttered in the early trading, it started moving steadily toward a green trajectory after an hour’s mark to eventually close 2.67% higher. As many as 30 scrips hit a positive circuit of 10% on Tuesday, reflecting positive investors’ sentiment in the bourse.

Except for three trading groups, all other trading groups ended the day in green with the maximum gains coming from the Microfinance index which was up by 8.96%. Next on the list were Finance and Banking sub-indices which posted gains of 4.44% and 3.93%, respectively.

Swabalamban Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd led the listed companies in terms of turnover as Rs 251.23 million worth of the microfinance institution’s shares were traded on the day. Next on the list were Shivam Cement and Soaltee Hotel Ltd with shares worth Rs 226.34 million and Rs 224.23 million traded.

Shares worth Rs 5.47 billion changed hands on the day through 13.1 million transactions. Total market capitalization was recorded at Rs 3.30 trillion.
