Nepse stable after losing 191.86 points in past two sessions

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted a marginal gain of 3.8 points to close trading at 2,786.40 points after losing 191.86 points over the past two sessions.

Despite the gains, daily turnover dropped significantly to Rs 13.72 billion, compared to Rs 18.46 billion recorded on Tuesday. The bourse recorded an all-time high turnover of Rs 29.30 billion on August 15.

Share prices of 142 companies declined on Wednesday, while 98 declined and four remained unchanged. Chandragiri Hills Ltd logged the highest turnover of Rs 430.78 billion. Next were Nepal Finance Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd with shares worth Rs 415.91 million and Rs 381.05 million traded, respectively.

Among trading groups, seven posted gains while six ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index which was down by 1.69%, while the Investment sub-index logged the highest gain of 1.01%.

A total of 35 million units of shares were traded on the bourse through 168,175 transactions on Tuesday.
