KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) snapped a three-day losing streak and posted a gain of 14.57 points to end trading at 2,076.27 points on Monday.
Trading began on Monday on a positive note as the benchmark index reached an intra-day high of 2,080.48 points minutes into the trading. Although it erased most of the gains as the day progressed, the benchmark index eventually ended the day 0.7% higher.
Share prices of 148 companies increased on the day, while 86 declined and 13 remained unchanged. Share prices of four companies hit the positive circuit of 10% on the day. In terms of turnover, Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd continued to top the table with shares worth Rs 158.90 million traded. Following closely were Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Hathway Investment Nepal Ltd with turnovers of Rs 154.69 million and Rs 82.31 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, four sub-indices ended the day in the red, logging nominal losses, while the remaining nine posted gains. The biggest gain came from the Others sub-index, which was up by 4.68%.
Shares worth Rs 2.43 billion were traded on the bourse through 56,775 transactions. Despite the gains, turnover value, turnover volume, and total transactions were lower on the day compared to Sunday.
