Nepse snaps three-day losing run, gains 21.3 points

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) snapped a three-day losing run, closing trading 21.3 points higher at 2,761.26 points on Monday.

Although trading began on a negative note, dropping to an intraday low of 2,731.5 points within an hour, the market recovered and eventually ended the session 0.77% higher.

Unit prices of 179 scrips gained during the session, while 71 declined.

Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 769.67 million worth of securities traded. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd and Himalayan Distillery Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 233.95 million and Rs 206.60 million, respectively.

Total turnover improved to Rs 6.54 billion with 14 million units traded through 58,105 transactions.

Except for the Mutual Fund and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices, which posted nominal losses, all sub-indices posted gains. The biggest gain came from the Other sub-index, which was up by 2.79%. Next were Microfinance and Development Bank sub-indices, which were up by 1.5% and 0.95%.
