Nepse snaps three-day losing run, closes 3.21 points higher

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped its three-day losing run on Tuesday, closing 3.21 points higher at 2,565.16 points.

The benchmark, which opened on a weak note and dipped to an intra-day low of 2,548.29 points, recovered in late trading to finish 0.12% higher.

Despite the uptick, overall market activity remained subdued, with total turnover falling to Rs 3.62 billion. A total of 7.94 million shares changed hands through 55,632 transactions during the session. Prices of 142 scrips advanced, 102 declined, and 10 remained unchanged.

Sahas Urja led the turnover chart with Rs 355.87 million worth of shares traded. Next were Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd and NRN Infrastructure & Development with turnovers of Rs 323.23 million and Rs 267.69 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, seven posted gains while six ended lower. The hydropower sub-index posted the biggest gain of 0.77%, whereas the Others sub-index recorded the steepest fall of 0.67%.
