Nepse snaps three-day gaining run, closes 16.95 points lower

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a three-day gaining run, closing 16.95 points lower at 2,676.17 points on Tuesday.

Trading volume also saw a significant dip compared to the previous session, as only Rs 5.79 billion worth of securities were traded through 56,548 transactions during the session. Total turnover remained at Rs 7.56 billion on Sunday.

Unit prices of 201 securities fell during the session, while 42 advanced. Among individual performers, the share price of Guardian Micro Life Insurance hit a positive circuit of 10%, gaining Rs 234.50 to close at Rs 2,579.80. The rally follows the company’s announcement of a 100% rights issue. Other notable gainers included Radhi Bidyut Company and Sayapatri Hydropower, all of which saw their share prices go up by 4%. Conversely, Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha recorded the steepest decline, with its share price dropping by 5.56%.

Himalayan Reinsurance logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 642.5 million worth of shares traded. Next were NRN Infrastructure and Development and CEDB Holdings with turnovers of Rs 455 million and Rs 280 million, respectively.

Twelve out of 13 trading groups ended the session in the red. The Trading sub-index was up 3.8%, while the Finance sub-index experienced the largest drop at 1.84%.
