Nepse snaps three-day gaining streak; shares worth Rs 6.33 billion traded

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) snapped a three-day gaining run and posted a loss of 9.32 points, closing the last trading session of the week at 2,112.29 points on Thursday.

Although the benchmark index ended the week in the red, shares worth Rs 6.33 billion were traded on the bourse that day—the highest since January 21, when shares worth Rs 7.63 billion changed hands.

Share prices of 148 companies declined on the day, while 93 advanced and five remained unchanged. Likewise, the share prices of three companies hit the positive circuit of 10% during the session. Among trading groups, only two posted gains while 11 ended the week in the red. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index, which was up by 2.03%, while the Trading and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices suffered the biggest losses of 1.03% each.

Nepal Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session, with Rs 284.73 million worth of shares traded. Next were NRN Infrastructure and Development Ltd and Samriddhi Finance Company Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 205.75 million and Rs 175.62 million, respectively.

A total of 14.29 million units of shares were traded on the bourse through 77,400 transactions on Thursday.
