KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) snapped a three-day gaining streak, closing 35.09 points lower at 2,725.71 points on Monday.
Market analysts have termed Monday’s loss as a market correction after three straight days of gains, during which the benchmark index added 76.94 points. Unit prices of 198 scrips declined during the session, while 50 advanced.
NRN Infrastructure & Development posted the highest turnover of the session with Rs 408.85 million worth of shares traded. Next were Butwal Power Company Ltd and Sanima Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 394.59 million and Rs 247.5 million, respectively.
Turnover fell slightly to Rs 8.17 billion on Monday, with 21.1 million units traded through 72,601 transactions.
Among trading groups, except for the Hydropower sub-Index, which posted a marginal gain of 0.29%, all sectoral sub-indices ended the session in the red territory. The biggest loss came from the Banking Sub-Index, which was down by 2.35%. Next were the Development Sub-Index and Life Insurance Sub-Index, which were down by 1.43% and 1.29%, respectively.
