KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a three-day losing run, closing 21.12 points lower at 2,609.58 points on Sunday.
Although the benchmark index posted some nominal gains initially, reaching an intra-day high of 2,641 points, it eventually ended the session 0.8% lower.
Share prices of 172 scrips declined during the session, while 69 advanced and two remained unchanged. Prabhu Bank Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 261.08 million worth of shares traded. Next were Janaki Finance Ltd and NRN Infrastructure and Development Ltd with turnovers of Rs 160.94 million and Rs 153.47 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, three trading groups posted gains and 10 ended the session in red. The biggest gain came from the Microfinance sub-index which was up by 1.12%. The finance sub-index logged the biggest loss of 4.47% followed by the Development Bank sub-index which was down by 2.65%.
Securities worth Rs 5.47 billion were traded on the bourse through 66,774 transactions.
