Nepse snaps six-day winning run; closes 18.14 points lower

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a six-day winning rung, closing 18.14 points lower at 2,635.09 points on Thursday – the last trading day of the week.

Despite the loss, daily turnover improved to Rs 7.30 billion compared to Wednesday. A total of 15.72 million units of shares were traded on the bourse through 73,309 transactions.

Share prices of 180 companies declined during the session, while 55 advanced and seven remained unchanged. Super Madi Hydropower Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 448.80 million units of shares traded. Next were Synergy Power Development Ltd and Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd with turnovers of Rs 283.21 million and Rs 252.40 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, only the Hotels & Tourism sub-indices posted nominal gains. All other trading groups ended the session in red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index which was down by 2.93 points. Next were the Development Bank and Microfinance sub-indices with losses of 2.04% and 1.25%, respectively.
