KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a six-day losing run, closing trading 45.88 points higher at 2,715.71 points on Wednesday.
A rise in share prices of Banking stocks put the benchmark index 1.71% higher during the session. The market heavyweight Banking sub-index ended the session 3.43% higher on Wednesday.
Share prices of 212 companies advanced during the session, while 28 declined and three remained unchanged. Janaki Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover with Rs 361.5 million worth of shares traded. River Falls Power Ltd and NRN Infrastructure and Development followed with turnovers of Rs 202.54 million and Rs 118.14 million, respectively.
Except for Mutual Fund sub-index, which posted a nominal gain of 0.34%, other sub-indices ended the session in green. Hydropower, Finance and Development Bank sub-indices posted gains of 1.96%, 1.83% and 1.64%, respectively.
Daily turnover improved slightly to Rs 5.05 billion through 56,350 transactions on Wednesday.
