KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index ended a four-day losing run, closing a nominal 2.08 points higher at 2,658.02 points on Thursday – the last trading day of the week.
The market saw a volatile session on Thursday with the sub-index hitting an intra-day high of 2,668.07 and an intra-day low of 2,642.28 points.
Share prices of 161 companies declined during the session, while 83 advanced and one remained unchanged. Daily turnover slightly improved to Rs 7.88 billion with 1.975 million units of shares traded through 70,703 transactions.
Ngadi Group Power Ltd continued to lead the top turnover list on Thursday as well, with Rs 703.49 million worth of shares traded. Next were Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd and NRN Infrastructure and Development Ltd with turnovers of Rs 572.30 million and Rs 525.23 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, five posted gains and the remaining eight ended the session in the red. The biggest gain came from the Investment sub-index, which was up by 2.49%. Likewise, Hotels & Tourism sub-index logged the biggest loss of 1.16%.
