KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) snapped a four-day losing run, closing 8.97 points higher at 2,671.07 points on Thursday.

The index lost 46.61 points over the past four sessions.

Although the benchmark index initially moved into the red, it gained momentum after the hour mark and hit an intraday high of 2,681.63 points. The index then pared some losses, but still ended the session 0.33% higher.

Unit prices of 139 scrips advanced on Thursday, while 115 declined and six remained unchanged. Ngadi Group Power Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 705.32 million worth of shares traded. Next were SY Panel Nepal Ltd and Ridi Power Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 434.23 million and Rs 419.79 million, respectively.

Total turnover improved to Rs 11.10 billion, with 27.78 million units traded through 106,018 transactions.

Among trading groups, five posted marginal losses, while the remaining eight ended the session in the green. The Development Bank index posted the highest gain of 1.18%. Next were the Hydropower and Investment sub-indices with gains of 0.97% and 0.62%, respectively.
