Nepse slips 27.59 points; turnover also drops to Rs 6.69 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) continued its losing run for a third straight session, closing 27.59 points lower at 2,614.55 points on Sunday.

The benchmark index posted losses on both trading days last week. Nepse opened for trading only two days last week due to public holidays.

The index moved into the negative territory right after trading began. Although it made a few recovery attempts, the index ultimately ended the session 1.04% lower.

Unit prices of 220 scrips declined during the session, while 34 advanced and seven remained unchanged. Ankhu Khola Jalavidyt Company Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 634.24 million worth of shares traded. Next were Ridi Power Company Ltd and SY Panel (Nepal) Ltd with turnovers of Rs 376.02 million and Rs 317.78 million, respectively.

Total turnover fell to Rs 6.69 billion as 165.98 million units were traded through 72,104 transactions on Sunday.

All sectoral indices ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which was down by 3.59%. Next were the Hydropower and Development Bank sub-indices with losses of 1.41% and 1.09%, respectively.
