Nepse slides for fourth day; turnover rises to Rs 5.23 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing streak for the fourth consecutive session on Wednesday, losing 13.52 points to close at 2,631.17.

Although the benchmark briefly moved into positive territory at the start of trading, it slipped into the red, with the downturn persisting throughout the session to end 0.51% lower.

A total of 177 scrips declined during the session, while 74 advanced and seven remained unchanged.

Despite the loss, total turnover rose to Rs 5.23 billion, with 10.87 million shares traded across 67,485 transactions. Bandipur Cablecar & Tourism Ltd led the turnover chart at Rs 184.97 million. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd and Ngadi Group Power Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 178.1 million and Rs 145.35 million, respectively.

Four sub-indices closed higher on Wednesday, while nine ended in negative territory. The Finance sub-index recorded the strongest gain at 1.59%, whereas the Life-insurance sub-index registered the steepest drop at 1.18%.
