Nepse slide continues to sixth straight session

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its losing streak to the sixth straight session on Tuesday, dropping 30.05 points to close at 2,2024.14 points.

With this decline, the benchmark index has accumulated a loss of 111.77 points over six sessions after posting gains for seven consecutive sessions.

On the day, share prices of only 37 companies advanced, while 205 declined, and three remained unchanged. Despite the overall downturn on the bourse, four companies saw their share prices hit a positive circuit of 10%. Shivam Cement recorded the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 161.10 million traded. Following were Hathaway Investment Nepal Pvt Ltd and Citizen Life Insurance, with shares worth Rs 153.87 million and Rs 147.28 million traded, respectively.

All trading groups ended the day in the red. The biggest loss came from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which was down by 2.99%. Life Insurance and Non-life Insurance sub-indices followed with losses of 2.995% and 2.76%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 4.04 billion were traded on the bourse through 85,435 transactions. The total market capitalization reached Rs 3.15 trillion on Tuesday.
