KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted yet another loss, closing trading 9.22 points lower at 2,757.97 points on Thursday.
Out of five trading days this week, the benchmark index posted gains on two days and losses on three days. Overall, the index lost 30.39 points during the week.
The unit prices of 53 scrips increased during the session, while 197 declined. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd posted the highest turnover of the session with Rs 240.95 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Balephi Hydropower Ltd with turnovers of Rs 200.95 million and Rs 141.95 million, respectively.
Total turnover fell to Rs 5.02 billion on Thursday, the lowest since June 4, when securities worth only Rs 4.97 billion were traded on the bourse. A total of 16.85 million units were traded through 56,824 transactions on Thursday.
Except for the Non-life Insurance sub-index, which posted a nominal gain, all other trading groups ended the session in the red. The Hotels & Tourism sub-index recorded the highest loss, at 0.86%. Development Bank and Trading sub-indices followed with losses of 0.65% and 0.64%, respectively.
