Nepse sheds 46.33 points, extends losing run to sixth session

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing streak into the sixth straight session, closing 46.33 points lower at 2,772.10 points on Sunday—the first trading day of the week.

The benchmark index has lost 118.18 points since March 2. The index has been closing in the red since it snapped a nine-day gaining streak on March 3.

During the session, unit prices of 217 securities declined, while 24 advanced and two remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd posted the highest turnover of the session, with Rs 1.12 billion worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and NRN Infrastructure & Development Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 599.88 million and Rs 550.94 million, respectively.

All trading groups ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Others sub-index, which fell by 2.69%. This was followed by the Investment and Finance sub-indices, which recorded losses of 2.49% and 1.87%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 10.09 billion were traded on the bourse on Sunday through 112,347 transactions.
