Nepse sheds 33.42 points; turnover improves to Rs 6.14 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shed 33.42 points, closing the last trading day of the week at 2,682.29 points on Thursday.

Share prices of 204 companies declined during the session, while 40 advanced. Janaki Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with Rs 261.21 million worth of shares traded. Next were Sarbottam Cement Ltd and Joshi Hydropower Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 215.22 million and Rs 152.28 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, two posted nominal gains, while the remaining 11 ended the session in red. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index, which was down by 2.64%. Hotels & Tourism and Banking sub-indices were also down by 1.98% and 1.72%, respectively.

Although the Nepse index closed 1.23% lower, daily turnover improved to Rs 6.14 billion compared to Rs 4.95 billion on Wednesday.
