Nepse sheds 21.32 points

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its losses for a third consecutive day on Monday, dropping 21.32 points to close at 2,075.97.

The market opened for trading with the benchmark index at 2,096.72 points. After experiencing initial losses, the index attempted recovery and reached an intraday high of 2,113.74. However, it declined afterward, ending the day with a 1.02% decrease.

Except for the Hotels & Tourism and Trading sectors, all other sub-indices closed in red, with the Life Insurance group experiencing the largest loss of 1.83%. The Hotels & Tourism and Trading group, on the other hand, recorded gains of 2.07%.

Himalayan Life Insurance was the most sought-after scrip of the day with shares worth Rs 239.44 million changing hands. Following closely were Soaltee Hotel Ltd and Citizens Investment Trust, with turnovers of Rs 209.44 million and Rs 203.32 million, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 4.05 billion were traded on the second trading day of the week. The total market capitalization reached Rs 3.03 trillion.
