KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index ended in the green for a second straight session, closing 2.8 points higher at 2,658.66 points on Monday.
Although the benchmark index posted double-digit gains, reaching an intra-day high of 2,679.13 midway into the session, it erased most of the gains and ended the session 0.10% higher.
Despite the gain, unit prices of 124 scrips declined while the same number of scrips posted gains. Sanima Mai Hydropower Ltd continued to top the highest turnover chart with Rs 951.62 million worth of shares traded. Next were Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Butwal Power Company Ltd with total turnovers of Rs 903.17 million and Rs 587.99 million, respectively.
Sectorwise, seven trading groups posted gains while the remaining six closed in the red. Hotels & Tourism posted the biggest gain of 4.47%, while Hydropower sub-index logged the biggest loss of 0.93%.
Total turnover increased to Rs 13.18 billion, the highest since March 3, when the bourse saw Rs 13.73 billion worth of shares traded. A total of 33.63 million units were traded through 105,635 transactions on Monday.
