Nepse posts nominal 6.51-point gain; turnover falls to Rs 5.63 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted a marginal gain of 6.51 points to stretch its gaining streak for a second session on Tuesday.

Although the benchmark index, which opened trading at 2,770.39 points, inched closer to the psychological support level of 2,800 points midway into trading, it pared most of the gains and eventually settled 0.23% higher at 2,776.90 points.

Despite the gain, total turnover fell to Rs 5.63 billion with 13.12 million units traded on the bourse through 61,784 transactions.

Unit prices of 142 scrips advanced during the session, while 107 declined. United Modi Hydropower Ltd topped the turnover chart on Tuesday with Rs 317.23 million worth of shares traded. Himalayan Distillery Ltd and Radhi Bidyut Company followed with turnovers of Rs 283.76 million and Rs 203.37 million, respectively.

All sectoral indices ended the session in the green with nominal gains. The Manufacturing & Processing sub-index posted the biggest gain of 0.46%, followed by the Banking and Mutual Fund sub-indices with gains of 0.40% and 0.29%, respectively.
