Nepse posts modest gain; turnover drops to Rs 6.52 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a two-day losing run, posting a nominal gain of 0.85 points to close trading at  2,675.62 points on Tuesday.

Share prices of 161 companies declined during the session, while 85 remained unchanged. Universal Power Company Ltd posted the highest turnover of the session with Rs 635.81 million worth of shares traded. Next were Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd and Ngadi Group Power Ltd with turnovers of Rs 473.69 million and Rs 421.92 million, respectively.

Seven trading groups posted during the session, while six ended the session in the red. The biggest gain came from the Development Bank sub-index which was up by 1.76%, while Microfinance shed the biggest loss of 0.98%.

Total turnover fell to Rs 6.52 billion, the lowest since April 13, when the bourse logged turnover of Rs 6.02 billion.
