Nepse posts marginal loss; turnover drops to Rs 19.36 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) closed 2.07 points lower at 2,962.13 points on Monday.

This follows Sunday’s 18.44-point loss when the market snapped an eight-day gaining streak.

Unit prices of 156 scrips declined during the session, while 94 went up. Shivam Cements Ltd posted the highest turnover of the session with Rs 925.78 million worth of shares traded. Himalayan Distillery Ltd and Ngadi Group Power Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 769.91 million and Rs 579.79 million, respectively.

Turnover dropped by more than Rs 7 billion as shares worth Rs 19.36 billion were traded on the bourse compared to Rs 26.57 billion on Sunday. A total of 44.12 million units were traded on the bourse during the session through 170,726 transactions.

Among sectoral indices, nine posted losses, while the remaining four ended the session in the green territory. Trading and Development Bank sub-indices posted gains of 3.24% and 3.04%, respectively, while the Banking sub-index posted the biggest loss of 0.89%.
