
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) ended trading on a high note this week, with the benchmark Nepse index climbing 3.35% to close at 2,703.39 points on Thursday. Overall, the index ended 40.09 points higher this week.
Despite the gain in Nepse index, unit prices of 151 scrips declined during the session, while 93 advanced.
Total turnover improved to Rs 7.84 billion, with 15.50 million units of shares traded through 69,089 transactions. Out of the 13 trading groups, only four recorded positive returns, while the remaining nine ended in the red.
Green Ventures Ltd emerged as the top gainer on Thursday with its share prices soaring 9.99% to close at Rs 505.20. Super Madi Hydropower Ltd and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd followed with strong gains of 6.95% to Rs 963.49 and 4.90% to Rs 440.61, respectively.
On the other hand, Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd was the top loser of the session, dropping 7.85% to Rs 3,301.06. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha and Guardina Microlife Insurance Ltd were next with losses of 6.13% and 6.12%, respectively.
On the turnover front, Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd led the pack with Rs 723.23 million worth of shares traded. Next were Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd and Rs NRN Infrastructure and Development with turnovers of Rs 559.92 million and Rs 429.79 million, respectively.
