KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse), which opened for trading after a two-day hiatus, recorded a turnover of Rs 18.9 billion on Wednesday – the last trading day of the week.
The benchmark Nepse index posted a nominal growth of 2.11 points on the day. Although the index reached an intra-day high of 3,002.74 points in the morning trade, it erased all the gains and ended the session with a nominal gain.
Share prices of 140 companies increased on the day, while 100 declined and four remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of Rs 660.23 million. Next were Api Power Company and Everest Bank Ltd with shares worth Rs 457.81 million and Rs 450.96 million traded, respectively.
Among trading groups, the Finance sub-index recorded the highest gain of 4.99%. Five trading groups posted gains, while eight remained in the red on Wednesday.
A total of 41.45 million units of shares were traded on the bourse through 214,319 transactions on the day.
