Nepse posts gains of 35.55 points

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted gains of 35.55 points to close trading at 2,696.65 points on Tuesday.

Although the market fell to an intra-day low of 2,609.8 points midway through trading, it recovered and breached the 2,700-point mark before erasing some gains to eventually end the session 1.33% higher.

Share prices of 189 companies advanced on the day, while 47 declined and six remained unchanged. Share prices of six companies hit the positive circuit of 10% during the session. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with shares worth Rs 601 million traded. Next were Shivam Cement and Soaltee Hotel Ltd with turnovers of Rs 376.70 million and Rs 364.30 million, respectively.

Among trading groups, four sub-indices logged losses, while the remaining nine posted gains. The biggest loss came from the Banking sub-index, which was down by 0.76%, while the Hotels & Tourism sub-index posted the highest gain of 5.99%.

Shares worth Rs 17.26 billion were traded on the bourse through 206,643 transactions.
