Nepse posts gains of 10.73 points; shares worth Rs 2.8 billion traded

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a gain of 10.73 points and ended the week’s trading at 1,852.77 points on Thursday.

The benchmark index posted nominal growth of 3.33 points on Wednesday, ending a seven-day losing streak.

Except for the Trading sub-index, which was down by 0.5%, all the trading groups ended the day in the green. The biggest gain came from the Non-Life Insurance sub-index, which was up by 2.11%. Next were the Hydropower and Investment sub-indices, with gains of 1.03% and 0.83%, respectively.

Unit prices of 175 scrips advanced on the day, while 57 declined and eight remained unchanged. Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd (Promoter Shares) logged the highest turnover of Rs 868.37 million on the day, propelling the daily transactions on the bourse past the Rs 2.5 billion mark. Next on the list were Citizen Life Insurance and Sonapur Oil and Minerals Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 95.46 million and Rs 92.76 million, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 2.8 billion were traded on the bourse through 53,146 transactions on Thursday.
