KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) plummeted 30.92 points to end trading at 2,067.01 points on Thursday – the last trading day of the week.
The market opened for trading on Thursday with the Nepse index at 2,103.2 points and immediately posted losses. Although the benchmark index made some recovery attempts, it consistently lost values and ultimately ended the day 1.47% lower.
Share prices of 226 companies declined, while 19 advanced and one remained unchanged on Thursday. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 540.18 million traded.
Among trading groups, only the Finance subindex ended the day in the green with a nominal gain of 0.21 points. All other sub-indices posted losses. The highest loss came from the Hydropower sub-index, which was down by 2.35%.
Daily turnover fell by more than Rs 1 billion compared to Wednesday. Shares worth Rs 4.178 billion were traded on the bourse on Thursday compared to Rs 5.26 billion a day earlier.
