Nepse losing extends losing run to third straight session

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its loss for a third straight day on Tuesday, losing 12.48 points to close the day at 1,908.66 points.

The market opened for trading at 1,919.17 and immediately hit the red trajectory. Although the benchmark index attempted to make a recovery, hitting an intra-day high of 1,926.67 points, it took a downfall thereafter to ultimately close 0.65% lower. Share prices of 66 companies advanced on the day, while 158 declined, and 10 remained unchanged.

Except for the Manufacturing & Processing and Trading sub-groups, which posted nominal gains, all trading groups posted losses on the day. The maximum loss came from the Life-Insurance sub-index, which was down by 1%. Following closely were Hotels & Tourism and Others sub-indices, which went down by 0.97% and 0.85%, respectively.

Nabil Bank Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 35.14 million traded. Next on the list were Reliable Nepal Life Insurance Company Ltd and Himalayan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd with turnovers of Rs 33.63 million and Rs 31.16 million, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 1.17 billion were traded on the bourse on Monday, down from Rs 1.73 billion recorded on Sunday. Total market capitalization reached Rs 2.91 trillion.
