Nepse gains whopping 127.32 points; turnover at Rs 13.10 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted gains of a whopping 4.72%, or 127.32 points, and closed trading at 2,823.25 points on Monday.

Monday’s gain brought some respite to investors as the benchmark index had shed 304.88 points since breaching the psychological 3,000-point mark on August 15.

Share prices of 239 companies advanced on the day, while five declined. Such was the buying pressure on the bourse that seven companies saw their share prices hit the positive circuit of 10%, while 10 others posted growth of more than 9%.

Goodwill Finance Ltd logged the highest turnover of the session with Rs 465.25 million worth of shares traded. Next were Api Power Company and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 418.87 million and Rs 331.31 million, respectively.

All the trading groups posted gains on Monday. The biggest gain came from the Finance sub-index, which was up by 7.94%. Next were Investment and Hydropower sub-indices, which were up by 5.45% and 5.36%, respectively.

The bourse recorded a turnover of Rs 13.10 billion through 160,579 transactions. A total of 31.43 million units of securities were traded during the session.
