KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) posted gains of 9.33 points to end trading at 2,017.03 points on Wednesday.
The secondary market saw a volatile session on the day as the benchmark index initially fell below the psychological 2,000-point mark but recovered to climb to an intraday high of 2,036.3 points. The index moved between the green and red trajectories throughout the session, ultimately ending the day 0.46% higher.
Share prices of 175 companies advanced on the day, while 62 declined and 11 remained unchanged.
Sonapur Minerals & Oil Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 333.77 million traded. Shivam Cement Ltd and Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 278.48 million and Rs 130.11 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, three sub-indices posted losses, while 10 ended the day in the green. The biggest loss came from the Finance sub-index, which was down by 1.68%. The market heavyweight Banking group posted a loss of 0.10%.
Shares worth Rs 3.45 billion were traded on the bourse through 58,940 transactions, while market capitalization – the total worth of listed shares – reached Rs 3.17 trillion.
